The Ely House and Freight
Station are the HEW
Historical Society's
headquarters as well as a
circa 1850 house, museum
and well-stocked library.

The museum is located on
164 North Main Street in
Hightstown. On the museum's
south side is Hightstown
Borough Hall and on the
north side is Bank Street.

Typically, the house is open to visitors on the last Sunday of the month. Trained docents will
be delighted to show you through the house. If you would like to make arrangements for a
group tour, please contact Ms. July Ely at (609) 448-3155.

The Ely House Library contains newspapers dating back to the mid-1800's, maps and books.
Some of the maps and books can be purchased. Local Librarian Ms. Frances Cook can help
you find information about local history and your ancestors.

The Library is open to the public most Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. A Society member
will be there to assist you. To make sure the library will be open when you visit, please call
Ms. Cook in advance at (609) 799-8598. You may also make an appointment for a different
day and time.
